Three Kings Day

|
|
The Townhall called the
Ayuntimiento of Nerja hosts this event
for the children of the village. Decorated floats travel the streets
of Nerja throwing sweets to the awaiting children along the route. This
is the Spanish Christmas Eve, the children have their present delivered by
the Three Kings on this eve and not by Father Xmas on the 25th Dec.
We enjoy following the procession around and end up in the old quarters of
town sampling some local tapas and beer, a great atmosphere.

San Isidro |
|
Gaily decorated carts and horses make
the pilgrimage from Nerja to the Caves at Maro, arriving around
14.00. It is a very busy event so plan well in advance and if going
by car be there by noon. Lots of outside bars selling plenty to eat
and drink, but if you prefer, take your own BBQ or picnic. Lots of
dancing to very loud music supplied by the bars. Also the night
before many people camp up there as the young generation have organized
discos. During the morning of the 15th there are many shows
including children dancing flamenco, and flamenco groups singing. This is
my favourite fiesta day of all.
